#859 – SOYO DYLM24D6 24″ LCD Monitor Video Review

“The SOYO DYLM24D6 24″ LCD Monitor is a no-frills display that has excellent color, brightness, contrast and sharp text quality in an affordable package. This display is lacking many of the connections you would find in higher priced monitors though. There are no HDMI, S-Video, Component video connections, or USB ports, but it does have an analog VGA and DVI connection. If you are on a budget and need an excellent display for your computer, I would strongly recommend you check it out. Watch the video to find out more and check out the bloopers at the end.” ~3dgameman.com

Yes you can dual them, you will need pretty strong video card to play games with duals.

I have a 20 inch monitor and i wanna buy this product but can you use a 24inch with a 20 inch together?

  3. tigerhawk84 says

Yeah, I got mine almost a year ago and it’s an MVA panel. I’ve heard the latest ones are all TNs unfortunately.

  4. jerrylanderos says

the older one which I own is not a TN panel but the new models of it are. Which sucks

Apparently the Hz says 55_70 which is too low. Long story short I paid 300 for a monitor so that all I can use it for is Xbox 360 in 1080p. When I put in a DVD or download a movie of Xbox live it says secure HDCP link not found. For some reason the Vega port does not work anymore, nor can I hook up my HD cable box.

This monitors suck so bad shortly after hooking it up I wants to take it back to OfficeMax. It was green and all types of color. I had the hardest time getting my hands to fit behind to hook up the DVDI and VGA. I had this crazy white film on screen when I hooked my 360 up. Out of know where everything started to work. I have a blue ray player hooked into my cp. I change the resolution to 1080. My screen flickers. Then I lower the resolution it starts to work. a movie of

I got this monitor about 10 months ago on Ebay. It looks great but recently, if I have to many windows on the screen at once, it will start to flicker and then it goes berzerk- it drops to only a few frames per second and draws only the top few inches of each frame and leaves the rest of the screen black. The only way to fix it is to turn it off for a few seconds. Maybe I got a defective monitor or something, idk.

Yep, I had a bunch of Sony Trinitrons, but, after about 10 years of use, one of my last few went up in a blaze of glory the other day. RIP, my faithful friend.

  11. gxcad says

Agreed, sony trinitron RIP – great monitors.

    LCD has its advantages though…

  12. gxcad says

Agreed, price per pixel this Soyo is hard to beat! I hear its a decent panel too.

hmmm… I have a problem. I upgraded from a 17″ non lcd monitor to a 19″ SOYO DYLM1986 and now I cant play bf2, and joint operations wont accept a higher res that 1280×768. I’m using a VGA cable because it didnt come with the DVI one, would that be the reason of the problem??? or it just sucks….

  14. Down8 says

    P-MVA. Thanks for playing though.

  15. Down8 says

He showed a power connex, DVI, and VGA. No component or HDMI.

    Learn your acronyms.

    24″ for <$300 or 30″ For $2000…?

The choice is clear, utility, or not. You can get 3 of these for the price of any 30″ on the market.

    Good job, dude!

I bought a second one today. Officemax loves selling these at $299.

To respond to wattaaa, I wish they would have done more to get that extra 1~2%, but all things considered,it’s a worthy tradeoff and once calibrated (Spyder2), these monitors are competent for photo editing. If people had the money, I’d still spend it, but these Soyos have no real downsides at all.

And given one comparable Benq is twice as much, dual monitor capability really adds a punch.

  19. crhossen says

LOL I got it at office max n00b! :-P

  20. PulletSurprise says

My friend picked one of these up at Circuit City on Black Friday.

The thing is absolutely amazing, and it makes me wish I had a LCD. :(

I still love my Sony FW900 though. :)

  21. Piscivorus says

Sweet! I just bought this exact LCD monitor on ebay for $300.01- ($275.01 + $25 S&H). I won it by a penny! :D

  22. star123compy says

Sorry, this was meant for the guy who said widescreen monitors are short-lived. I hit reply, I don’t know what happened…

SOYO is awesome value for the money…I love mine!!

  25. fhqwgads2005 says

ahaha, you showed the Sony trinitron G400 at 1:20!!!

great monitor! i still use it. wouldn’t trade it for a dumb LCD that can only display one resolution and terrible viewing angles and ghosting.
